On the sidelines of his participation in the Second International Summit of Religious Leaders in Kuala Lumpur, His Eminence Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, met yesterday (Thursday) with leaders of the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates in Malaysia.

During the meeting, the Grand Mufti expressed profound appreciation for the remarkable efforts made by the organization's Malaysian branch in promoting Al-Azhar’s moderate thought. He emphasized that their connection to Al-Azhar is an extension of Egypt’s historical role in establishing the values of moderation and confronting extremist ideologies, noting that their programs and activities directly contribute to protecting Malaysian society from the dangers of extremism and division.

His Eminence affirmed that Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta is fully prepared to provide all forms of scholarly and religious support to organization members, ranging from training and qualification programs to producing scientific materials translated into Malay, which foster correct understanding of Islam and rectify mistaken concepts. He pointed out that these efforts align closely with Al-Azhar’s mission both domestically and internationally.

For their part, the leaders of the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates in Malaysia warmly welcomed the Grand Mufti’s visit, describing it as a significant moral and spiritual boost to Al-Azhar’s alumni in Malaysia. They also conveyed their high regard for Egypt, Al-Azhar, and its Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, expressing pride in their affiliation with Al-Azhar and their organization’s honor to operate under its auspices.

The participation of the Grand Mufti of Egypt in this international summit marks a continuation of Egypt’s leadership in fostering interreligious and intercultural dialogue, reinforcing moderation and balance, and highlighting the vital responsibility of religious leaders in addressing global challenges and striving for peace and stability.
