Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, met Tuesday with Ramin Mammadov, chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in religious affairs.
According to a statement from Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta, the talks focused on benefiting from the institution’s expertise in issuing religious rulings, training scholars and promoting a moderate and balanced religious discourse.
The meeting underscored the strong ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan, with both sides emphasizing the importance of exchanging experiences in addressing contemporary religious challenges and countering extremism through education and dialogue.
The two officials agreed to enhance future cooperation and continue coordination in areas of shared interest, particularly in developing institutional frameworks that support moderation and responsible religious guidance.
The visit reflects growing collaboration between religious institutions in both countries aimed at fostering tolerance, stability and mutual understanding.
