Egypt's government denied on Monday claims that there is a shortage of white rice on markets and supply outlets.
According to a statement issued by Cabinet Media Center, the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry denied these reports, asserting that they are baseless and bare of truth.
The ministry indicated that all basic commodities are available on markets, including white rice, saying that sufficient amounts of rice are pumped into markets nationwide.
It noted that the country has a strategic reserve of rice sufficient for about three and half months.
The center urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned so as to avoid sparking confusion among the public.
