Egypt's FM, Somali Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Ties, Horn of Africa Developments

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed over the phone on Saturday ways to strengthen bilateral relations with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali.

The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in Somalia's internal situation and regional issues, particularly in the Horn of Africa.

During the call, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the Somalia and its national institutions, stressing Egypt's commitment to Somalia's security and stability.

He reiterated Cairo's firm position in support of Somalia's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Egyptian foreign minister also underscored Egypt's complete rejection of any attempts or measures that undermine Somalia's territorial unity, including any recognition of the so-called "Somaliland," describing such actions as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.

For his part, the Somali foreign minister expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's continued political, developmental and security support, praising Cairo's consistent stance in backing Somalia's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also emphasized Somalia's commitment to maintaining close coordination and consultation with Egypt on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest in support of peace and stability across the Horn of Africa.
