Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, reiterated that strengthening ties with African nations remains a cornerstone of Cairo’s foreign policy.

During a meeting with senior officials from the ministry’s African Affairs sector, Abdelatty stressed that Egypt views Africa as a key partner in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development across the continent.

The minister said that Egypt’s relationship with African states is based on deep historical ties and shared interests, and should continue to be reinforced through active diplomatic engagement.

He called on Egyptian diplomatic missions across Africa to intensify cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and healthcare, while highlighting the need for stronger political consultations and strategic partnerships.

Abdelatty also pointed to the importance of Egypt’s role in addressing shared regional challenges, including water security and maritime safety in the Red Sea, and urged for expanded Egyptian presence in strategic regions such as the **Horn of Africa, the Nile Basin and the Sahel**.

He cited the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project in Tanzania** as an example of successful Egyptian-African cooperation and reiterated Egypt’s continued support for development projects in the Southern Nile Basin.

The minister concluded by emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to supporting African nations in achieving peace and development through diplomacy and cooperation.
