On the sidelines of his official visit to Moscow, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Badr Abdelatty, met on Thursday with the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council, c.
According to the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's keenness to continue strengthening bilateral security cooperation, as a pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation to support national security priorities and promoting regional and international peace.
The minister also reviewed Egypt's intensive diplomatic efforts to contain the situation, emphasizing that diplomacy remains the best option to prevent the conflict from spreading.
The meeting tackled the latest challenges in the Horn of Africa, in which Minister Abdelatty emphasised Egypt's support for international efforts to stabilize Somalia and the Horn of Africa. He further asserted that the governance of the Red Sea is an exclusive matter for littoral states responsible for its security.
Regarding the issue of water security, the Foreign Minister affirmed the importance of cooperation in accordance with international law to safeguard the interests of all Nile Basin countries.
He further expressed Egypt's rejection of unilateral actions in the Eastern Nile Basin that violate international law.
