Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met Russian presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments.
According to a statement recently issued by the Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to its strategic partnership with Russia and to advancing cooperation across economic, trade and investment sectors. He also stressed the importance of implementing outcomes from his recent visit to Russia and elevating bilateral ties.
The minister highlighted progress in joint flagship projects, including the planned Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, expressing Egypt’s interest in attracting further Russian investment in priority sectors.
The meeting addressed developments in the Middle East. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s diplomatic efforts to contain escalation and support ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that diplomacy remains the best path to prevent a wider conflict, the statement read.
Abdelatty warned of the economic fallout from regional tensions, including rising energy and fertilizer prices, higher inflation, increased food costs and disruptions to global supply chains, trade and tourism.
In turn, Patrushev expressed appreciation for meeting President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and praised the strength of Egyptian-Russian ties, voicing Russia’s interest in expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
