Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Thursday with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to discuss developments surrounding Iran’s nuclear file and efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.

During the call, the two sides reviewed ongoing international and regional efforts to contain the rising level of tension in the Middle East. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s recent diplomatic engagements, conducted under directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aimed at encouraging the resumption of dialogue between the United States and Iran.

The Egyptian foreign minister stressed that renewed talks could help address concerns related to Iran’s nuclear programme while taking into account the interests of all parties and contributing to regional security and stability. He expressed Egypt’s hope that Washington and Tehran would reach a mutually acceptable settlement that would ease tensions and spare the region further escalation.

Abdelatty also underlined the importance of sustained regional and international efforts to reduce tensions and prioritise diplomatic and political solutions. He reaffirmed that Egypt will continue its intensive contacts and mediation efforts to support peace, security, and stability across the region.
