Badr Abdel Aaty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, held a phone conversation with Abdoulkader Hussein Omar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti.

The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exchanging views on key regional issues.

Minister Abdel Aaty emphasized the depth of Egyptian-Djiboutian ties, praising the positive momentum in bilateral relations and highlighting the mutual commitment to advancing joint cooperation frameworks for the benefit of both nations. He underlined the importance of enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation to achieve shared interests.

The Egyptian minister stressed increasing trade exchange, supporting mutual investments, and facilitating opportunities for Egyptian companies in Djibouti, particularly in infrastructure, logistics zones, energy, agriculture, and industry, while emphasizing ongoing coordination to implement joint projects in line with Egypt’s commitment to strengthening commercial relations.

Regarding developments in the Horn of Africa, Abdel Aaty highlighted the importance of preserving national unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while rejecting interference in internal affairs.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s full opposition to and condemnation of Israel’s recognition of so-called “Somaliland,” stressing support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

He condemned any unilateral actions undermining Somali sovereignty or regional stability, noting their violation of international law and threat to security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.

The two ministers also exchanged views on overall regional developments, underscoring the importance of continued coordination and consultation between Cairo and Djibouti. They agreed that collaboration contributes to peace, security, and stability in the region and strengthens African-led initiatives, particularly given the close link between Red Sea security and Horn of Africa stability.
