The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, had a phone call with Mexico's Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente regarding the shooting incident that resulted in the deaths of three Egyptian nationals in Mexico.
According to a statement recently issued by the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Mexican foreign secretary expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the Egyptian government and the families of the victims.
The investigations are still ongoing, and the Egyptian government will be informed about the outcomes once they are completed, added the top Mexican diplomat. Abdelatty urged the Mexican government to expedite the investigations and take relevant measures to repatriate the bodies of the victims and provide medical care for the injured, the spokesman said.
The foreign minister also instructed the Egyptian ambassador in Mexico to travel to the city, which is located 850 kilometers away from the Mexican capital, to monitor the situation, arrange the transfer of bodies, and assess the needs of the injured nationals.
During the phone call, Egyptian-Mexican relations were discussed, with Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of advancing trade relations and investments between the two countries.
