Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, departed for Riga, the capital of Latvia, on Friday to participate in the 35th Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), where he will represent Egypt in his capacity as the country’s Governor to the bank.
The high-level gathering brings together government officials, international financial institutions, and development partners to discuss economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and strategies for sustainable growth across the EBRD’s regions of operation.
According to official sources, Minister Abdelatty is scheduled to take part in a series of ministerial sessions and senior-level events on the sidelines of the meeting. Discussions will focus on strengthening economic and development cooperation, mobilizing investment, and advancing Egypt’s national development agenda.
The visit comes as Egypt continues to deepen its engagement with international financial institutions to support key economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and private-sector-led growth initiatives. The EBRD remains one of Egypt’s major development partners, providing financing and technical support across sectors including renewable energy, transportation, manufacturing, and financial services.
Officials expect the meetings in Riga to provide an opportunity to further expand cooperation between Egypt and the EBRD, while highlighting the country’s investment potential and ongoing efforts to promote sustainable economic development.
The 35th Annual Meeting of the EBRD is expected to attract senior policymakers and business leaders from across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia, serving as a platform for dialogue on development financing and regional economic resilience.
