The Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Djiboutian counterpart Mahmoud Ali Youssef stressed the seriousness of the recent developments related to the situation in Somalia, and the negative effects they have on the stability of the region.

The two ministers stressed - during their meeting, Friday, in the capital of Uganda, Kampala, on the sidelines of their participation in the Non-Aligned Summit - their rejection of any attempt to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Somalia, and the importance of working to preserve the unity of the country.

Ahmed Abu Zaid, the official spokesman said that the meeting discussed the most prominent regional developments related to the situation in Sudan and Somalia, where they agreed on the importance of reaching a ceasefire in Sudan, paving the way for the start of a political process that puts an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Abu Zaid indicated that the two sides agreed to continue consultation and close coordination regarding relevant regional developments, in light of the close and historical ties that unite the two countries with the Sudanese and Somali peoples.
