Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Sigrid Kaag, the United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, in Cairo on Sunday to discuss the upcoming international conference on Gaza's reconstruction, which Egypt will co-host with the UN.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty emphasized the need for global support to restore essential services, launch early recovery efforts, and rebuild Gaza's infrastructure.

The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of Saturday's gathering of Arab officials and foreign ministers in Cairo, where they collectively rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to relocate Palestinians from the heavily devastated Gaza Strip.

Discussions covered both political and humanitarian aspects of the situation in Gaza, as well as Egypt's ongoing efforts to uphold the ceasefire, implement its three-phase plan, and maximize humanitarian aid deliveries to the besieged enclave.

Kaag provided an assessment of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and updated Abdelatty on her latest diplomatic engagements.

In turn, Abdelatty urged her to continue monitoring donor commitments made at the Cairo Ministerial Conference in December to ensure sufficient humanitarian aid reaches Gaza.

Furthermore, the foreign minister reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to facilitating the sustained flow of humanitarian assistance through all border crossings. He also stressed the importance of reinstating the Palestinian Authority's governance in Gaza.

Abdelatty further called on the international community to support Egypt’s ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian relief to the war-torn territory.
