Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's unequivocal opposition to any unilateral actions that contravene international law concerning the management of water resources.

In his remarks at the seventh edition of Cairo WaterWeek, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's significant efforts over recent years to promote the international water agenda, noting the country's involvement in various initiatives, including the Water Adaptation and Resilience (AWARe) initiative.

He remarked that the event, themed “Water and Climate: Building Resilient Communities,” serves as a vital platform for utilizing scientific approaches to address water-related challenges.

Abdelatty also underscored the necessity of fostering regional and international collaboration in water management to ensure equitable development for all, particularly given that many water resources are derived from transboundary rivers.

The inaugural session saw participation from numerous Egyptian ministers, ambassadors, representatives from diplomatic missions based in Cairo, and governors.

This annual event will focus on five key themes: Transboundary Water Governance for Sustainable Development, Strategic Water Resources Management to Enhance Community Resilience, Innovation and Financing for Resilient Water Security Solutions, Actions for Water and Climate Adaptation and Resilience, and Planning and Legislation for Climate-Smart Communities.

The program will feature workshops, competitions aimed at young entrepreneurs and postgraduate students, as well as an exhibition showcasing advanced technological solutions in water desalination and renewable energy.
