Rashid City in the Beheira Governorate has witnessed intensive efforts by the executive bodies to complete the construction of Egypt's first integrated fishing port on the Mediterranean Sea, at a cost of over EGP 600 million.

The construction of the new fishing port is part of the national project for the development and revitalization of Rashid City, which President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi directed to implement in order to change the face of this historic city and provide more than 5,000 job opportunities.

The establishment of the Rashid fishing port aims to stimulate the fishing process with professionalism according to scientific rules, open up new opportunities for work, create organized markets for selling fish, prevent monopoly, and establish an industrial zone based on fish packaging, freezing, and exporting to countries around the world.

The new Rashid fishing port includes several industries that depend on fish production and fishing activities, such as ice making, nets, spinning, fishing boats and their repair, as well as fish preservation and processing.

The port also includes three factories for ice making, fish packaging, and fishing nets, as well as a dock for fishing boats that can accommodate about 60 boats per hour, and another dock for boat maintenance with all its equipment, including a crane with a capacity of more than 2,000 tons.

The Rashid fishing port also includes workshops for maintenance, equipment storage, engineering management, a customs building, a wholesale and retail market, transformer rooms, warehouses, a sewage treatment plant, and fresh water tanks, in addition to rest areas for workers, as well as administrative and service buildings.
