Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Osama Abdel Khalek, has called for the urgent implementation of a temporary ceasefire and the prompt delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, according to Alqahera News.
In his address to the Security Council, Egypt reaffirmed its steadfast dedication to upholding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The envoy pointed out the catastrophic impact on Gaza, noting that more than 42,000 lives have been lost due to Israeli actions, alongside the ongoing forced displacement of civilians.
He stressed that the current escalations are facilitated by the existing shortcomings of international institutions, highlighting the necessity for a decisive response from the Security Council.
