On Tuesday, Egypt’s Minister of Defense, General Mohamed Zaki, met with the Commander of the U.S. Central Command, General Michael Kurilla, and his accompanying delegation in Cairo at the Ministry of Defense’s headquarters. This significant meeting highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Egypt and the United States amid current international and regional turmoil, particularly with the crisis in Gaza.
During the meeting, both sides discussed several matters of mutual interest in light of the ongoing regional developments. General Zaki emphasized the strong military ties between the Egyptian and American armed forces across various sectors. He stressed the importance of coordinating efforts among all international players to achieve de-escalation and a ceasefire, and to intensify the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Rafah border crossing to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinians in Gaza.
General Kurilla commended Egypt's pivotal role in promoting security, stability, and balance in the region. He acknowledged Egypt’s efforts in addressing the Gaza crisis and reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting the strategic partnership and ongoing coordination with the Egyptian armed forces.
