Hours after the Israeli army seized control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing on the border between Gaza and Egypt, Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense met Tuesday with Michael Kurilla, commander of United States Central Command to discuss current regional, International developments; especially under the current crises in Gaza.
The minister of defense stressed the importance of coordination between the effective parties on the international arena to reach a cease fire and increase humanitarian aid to Gaza.
On his part, the general of U.S. central command praised the pivotal role played by the Egyptian state to help maintain stability and peace in the region, and also the effort made towards in the Gaza crisis, stressing the keenness to strengthen strategic relations between the Egyptian and the U.S. armed forces.
Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Osama Askar also meet with Kurilla to discuss boosting military cooperation between both countries.
Meantime, the Israeli army said earlier that one of its armored brigades seized control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing.
