In less than an hour, Egypt's Dar Al Iftaa will start observing Ramadan's Crescent moon for the year 1444 AH.

Today marks 29 Shaa'ban which means that the crescent would indicate tomorrow as the beginning of the new month, Ramadan, or the 30th day of Shaaban.

The event of observation will take place after the Prayer of Al-Maghrib (the sunset) for 30 minutes, and the result of the observation will be announced immediately.

Previously, the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) announced that the blessed month of Ramadan will begin in Egypt on Thursday, March 23. In the same context, the Eid Al Fitr will begin on April 21.

According to astronomical studies, the rise of the Ramadan Crescent moon will be at 7: 24 pm on the Day of Observation (Yawm Al Roayah) in Cairo time.

This means that the new crescent won't exist by sunset in Cairo and the majority of the Muslim countries.

So, Wednesday is expected to be the final day of Shaaban, and the beginning of Ramadan would be on Thursday.
