Dr. Nazir Ayyad, Egypt's Grand Mufti, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, welcomed a high-level Singaporean delegation led by Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs in Singapore.

The meeting focused on strengthening fatwa-related cooperation and supporting the establishment of the Singapore Islamic Studies College.

Dr. Ayyad underscored Dar Al-Ifta's extensive expertise in various fields, including fatwa issuance, family guidance, combating extremism, and fostering interfaith coexistence. He expressed the institution's readiness to collaborate by providing training programs, sharing scientific publications, and offering resources to support the new college. He also commended Singapore’s progress in Islamic work and its commitment to religious harmony.

Minister Zulkifli praised Egypt's religious leadership and highlighted Singapore's efforts in promoting interfaith understanding and tolerance, despite Muslims being a minority. He affirmed the government's dedication to establishing the Islamic Studies College as a global model for Islamic education, designed to address contemporary challenges such as family issues and societal cohesion.

Both sides emphasized the significance of this partnership in addressing misconceptions about Islam, promoting peaceful coexistence, and enhancing the role of religious institutions in countering extremist ideologies.
