Over the past days, Egypt saw an increase in the daily coronavirus cases, registering on Saturday 431 new coronavirus infections, raising the total cases to 118,014 since the beginning of the virus outbreak.
"Eighteen more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 6,750," Khaled Megahed, the Health Ministry’s spokesman, said in a statement.
"Up to 103,324 coronavirus patients have recovered so far," the spokesman said.
"As many as 133 Egyptians were among the recovered patients today," he added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli called on citizens to abide by the precautionary measures to fight COVID-19 otherwise the state will take difficult steps similar to those applied before, pointing out that some countries took stringent measures including total lockdown.
Madbouli stressed the importance of providing medicines in government hospitals and pharmacies, referring to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives on the importance of buying medical equipment within the framework of the Central Bank of Egypt's initiative in order to promote the efficiency of hospitals as part of good governance.
The ministry raises its preparedness at all the country’s ports and airports to monitor the virus developments, receiving inquires from citizens about the virus through its hotline 105 or 15335 or through on the Sehet Misr (Egypt's health) mobile application.
