The Egyptian Committee operating in the Gaza Strip has distributed nearly 55,000 food parcels to displaced Palestinians from the city of Rafah, as part of an ongoing humanitarian campaign to support families affected by the conflict in the southern part of the enclave.

The large-scale aid operation, launched on Thursday, aims to deliver essential humanitarian supplies — including food parcels, tents, and winter relief items — to thousands of displaced residents. According to Egyptian sources, the committee will continue expanding its distribution in the coming days, reaching Khan Younis, the central governorate, and eventually Gaza City and the northern areas, ensuring that all governorates of the Gaza Strip receive assistance.

The initiative is part of Egypt’s sustained humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza, following weeks of intense hostilities that have displaced hundreds of thousands of people and severely disrupted access to food, clean water, and medical supplies.

Meanwhile, heavy Israeli artillery bombardments continued across several parts of the enclave, particularly in the eastern areas of Khan Younis, where military vehicles stationed nearby carried out intense shelling and gunfire.

Similar scenes were reported in eastern Gaza City, where the neighborhoods of Shuja’iyya and Al-Tuffah came under renewed Israeli fire.

In a separate incident, a Palestinian civilian was killed in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis, after being directly targeted by an Israeli reconnaissance drone strike.

Israeli naval forces also intermittently fired shells toward the southern shores of Khan Younis and Rafah, adding to the escalating tensions across the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian campaign underscores Cairo’s ongoing role as a key humanitarian and diplomatic actor in efforts to stabilize conditions in Gaza and support civilians amid the deepening crisis.
