The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has decided to leave its key interest rates unchanged following the Monetary Policy Committee's meeting on Thursday.
The committee kept the overnight deposit rate at 19% and the overnight lending rate at 20%.
The CBE uses interest rates as its main monetary policy tool to control inflation, lowering rates when inflation eases and raising them when price pressures intensify.
The decision follows the committee's previous meeting on 21 May 2026, when it also maintained interest rates at their existing levels. Under the latest decision, the overnight deposit rate remains at 19%, the overnight lending rate at 20%, and the main operation rate at 19.5%.
The central bank also kept the discount rate unchanged at 19.5%.
