Egypt's Bank Deposits Surge EGP 319 Billion in Q1 2021

Deposits of the banking sector recorded about EGP 5.515 trillion by the end of March, compared to EGP 5.196 trillion by the end of December 2020, an increase of EGP 318.9 billion, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

CBE reports revealed that government deposits recorded EGP 980.7 billion at the end of March, compared to EGP 868.5 billion at the end of December.

Deposits in local currency were pided into EGP 851.5 billion by the end of March, and EGP 129.1 billion in foreign currencies.

Non-government deposits recorded about EGP 4.535 trillion by the end of March, compared to EGP 4.328 trillion by the end of December.

Non-governmental deposits in local currency recorded about EGP 3.875 trillion, including EGP 66.972 billion in the public business sector, EGP 493.6 billion for the private sector, EGP 3.299 trillion for the households sector, and EGP 15.4 billion for non-residents.

Foreign deposits amounted to about 659.7 billion by the end of March, including 31.236 billion for the public business sector, 169.04 billion in the private business sector, 444.8 billion in the households  sector, and 14.661 billion for non-residents.
