In a milestone reflecting the rapid advancement of Egypt’s domestic manufacturing sector, the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) announced that its Electronics Factory has obtained the prestigious MFi certification from Apple for charger products developed in partnership with local firm ZeroTech.
The certification, short for “Made for iPhone/iPad”, is one of the most rigorous global standards in consumer electronics. It is granted by Apple only after products pass strict testing procedures to ensure safety, efficiency, and full compatibility with its devices.
According to the announcement, the Electronics Factory is now the first facility in Egypt and the Middle East to receive this accreditation for such products, marking a significant breakthrough for the country’s electronics industry.
Officials said the achievement underscores the factory’s ability to manufacture technology products that meet international benchmarks, aligning with Egypt’s broader strategy to localize advanced industries and reduce reliance on imports. Collaboration with Zerotech, as a private sector partner, was also considered a key element in achieving this milestone
The certification is expected to enhance consumer confidence in locally manufactured electronics, while also supporting the government’s push to boost exports and expand into regional and global markets.
Industry observers view the move as a step toward positioning Egypt as a competitive hub for electronics manufacturing, demonstrating that locally produced goods can meet, and potentially rival, global quality standards.
