The Ministry of Agriculture announced in its latest journal the figures of this year's wheat production in Egypt, media agencies reported on Saturday.

The journal highlighted that the total of planted lands of wheat reached 3,659,000 acres, which means that the total wheat production would be 10 million tons.

Last month, the Ministry of Agriculture asserted that Egypt’s supplies of wheat are enough for four months; in addition, the season of the wheat harvest in the country will start in April which will give the country an extra number of supplies that is enough for 10 months, Sputnik reported on Saturday.

The Head of the Wheat Sector at the ministry said that there is a regular observation for lands and crops, adding that the expected produced quantity of wheat for this year ranges between four and five million tons which secures Egypt’s needs for at least nine or ten months.

It is worthy to mention that Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Thursday with the Governor of the Egyptian Central Bank to make sure of the availability of the country’s wheat needs.

Egypt is the biggest importer of wheat from both Russia and Ukraine. The news of the Russian military operations caused a jump in the prices of wheat and oil globally.

During the meeting, both officials reviewed Egypt’s supplies of wheat and oil after the Russian-Ukrainian conflicts.
