Abu Zeid: Egyptians Stranded in Canada On Their Way Back Home

An EgyptAir plane took off Toronto Airport on Friday to return stranded Egyptians in Canada and it’s on its way to Egypt, carrying more than 200 Egyptian citizens on board.

Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada Ahmed Abu Zeid expressed his happiness at the success of the efforts to bring the stranded Egyptians back to their homeland, thanking all citizens for their understanding of all challenges that accompanied the attempts to return them back to Egypt over the past weeks.

He also hailed their full cooperation with the Egyptian embassy in Ottawa and the Consulate General in Montreal since the beginning of the crisis to register their names and submit papers that prove the application of the standards and conditions set by the Egyptian authorities.

Ambassador Abu Zeid sincerely thanked the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the office of EgyptAir in Toronto for the support provided to the embassy to complete the travel process successfully, and also thanked the leaders and members of the Egyptian community in Canada who contributed in easing the burdens imposed on some of the stranded, and cooperated with the Egyptian embassy around the clock to ensure the largest possible number of stranded on this plane.

On the other hand, the Egyptian ambassador to Canada explained that the process of returning Egyptian citizens abroad comes within the framework of an integrated plan developed by the Egyptian government and supervises its implementation strictly, according to the criteria announced.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid concluded his statements wishing safety to all the members of the Egyptian community in Canada in these exceptional circumstances the world is going through.

Moreover, he stressed that the Egyptian embassy in Ottawa and the Consulate General in Montreal have always been ready to provide all services to any Egyptian citizen who is permanently present or temporary in Canada.
