Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Tareq el-Qouni said on Friday that there is a high turnout among the Egyptian community in the Arab country to cast their votes in the referendum on constitutional amendments.

"The beginning of the voting process witnessed a large number of voters, while there are more outside the embassy, waiting for their turn to enter and cast their votes," the ambassador said in press statements.

Qouni expressed optimism about the turnout, noting that he expects it to be high, the same as it was in last year’s presidential election.

  • The Egyptian embassy prepared for the referendum for a long time to guarantee the swiftness of the process, way, he said, noting that many procedures were set in coordination with Kuwaiti authorities to facilitate the participation of eligible voters in the referendum.

He thanked Kuwait for its regular support to the embassy in arranging and organizing such events, which reflects the strong relations between the two countries.
