Tomorrow, December 18, Egypt will begin a new phase in its modern history, starting with a new president... after announcing the results of the 2024 presidential elections.

These elections, which took place in a wonderful democratic atmosphere, and featured the Egyptian people in a beautiful, civilized appearance. I was fortunate to be accompanied by an international committee to monitor the presidential elections, which is the committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean that includes 28 countries around the Mediterranean basin. The committee was chaired by Egyptian Parliament deputy speaker MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, the Honorary President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), We visited many polling stations in different governorates. I saw turnout, queues, and crowds in front of the polling stations, which made me proud of Egypt’s successful experience, and my country’s youth and women from all classes who went out from everywhere in Egypt to choose their president. What we saw was amazing not only for the Egyptians but the foreigners as well. MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein was an example of neutral parliamentary diplomacy who knows his role well. He did not interfere. They were just seeing everything as it was and in reality. The delegation was impressed and declared this in the “On My Responsibility” program presented by prominent TV host Ahmed Moussa on Sada El-Balad channel. MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein said that the Egyptian people sent a message to the world that the Egyptians can overcome all challenges, know their constitutional right, and knows well how to choose their leader.

Abdelkader Al-Kahil, a member of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), from Morocco, announced that there is a distinguished participation in the presidential elections. The parliamentary reports they prepare will be ready for those interested and researchers in the political and democratic field. As for Melori, an Italian member, he said that they not only visited the polling stations, but they also listened to the pulse of the street.

Joana Lima, a Portuguese national, head of the Women's Committee in this parliament, said that she felt extremely proud of Egyptian women, their participation, and their sense of responsibility.

The delegation visited the Library of Alexandria and met Dr. Ahmed Zayed, head of the library, who welcomed them. They expressed great admiration for the library.

They decided to visit the pyramid because the pyramids are the symbol of Egypt.  I was fortunate to take part in this unique experience, it made me feel how much the world respects us, and sees the change that has occurred over the past years in terms of the development of infrastructure and the development that has occurred to the 7,000-year-old civilized Egyptian people. On Monday, we will congratulate Egypt with its president, who was chosen by the Egyptians with the utmost transparency and a sense of responsibility towards the future of Egypt and the Egyptian people.
