Egyptians Abroad Welcome Others Stuck with Cancelled Flights

Egypt reported on Monday that it is closing off all airports across the country and halting all flights from Thursday afternoon and up to the end of March.

This is a step in the right direction for the country, after two weeks of suspending colleges, universities, events, and gyms, it only makes sense to monitor the novel virus during this quarantine period.

Last week, the Immigration Ministry called on all Egyptians abroad to reach out to the Ministry in case they have stuck abroad without any way of getting back with all the lockdowns and cancellations.

But sadly, the situation with the outbreak of Coronavirus has escalated beyond that, and the full closure of the airports also means that Egyptian nationals currently abroad will have to remain abroad.

But in a true Egyptian style, since the announcement was made, the hashtag #احنا_في_ضهرك has gone viral since then.

The hashtag, which basically translates to the fact that we have your back, started in the ' Travel Secrets Club ' travel community on Facebook and went viral on social media.

Egyptians use this hashtag to call out for those who traveled when the announcement was made and are unable to return home until the decision to close the airports takes effect.

The proposal came because too many people were concerned about the cancellations of the flights that were already flying.

Shortly afterward, the posts had started to call out for any Egyptian who is currently abroad and is unable to book a flight or their flight was canceled if they run out of money or are unable to find a place to stay during this quarantine.

The posts are warm-hearted. It's all the people who open their homes to someone who doesn't get to theirs. The hashtag started trending in less than a day with posts from people in France, Italy, Thailand and every other location you might imagine. Go on Facebook and check for all the negative news for any positivity.
