Hassan Rashad, Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS), met with the Head of Turkish Intelligence on June 29, 2026, to discuss several issues of mutual interest, most notably Gaza and Libya.
Both sides agreed on the importance of intensifying joint efforts during the current phase to reach a comprehensive settlement for the ongoing crises in the region, particularly given the exceptional circumstances and challenges facing the Middle East that impact national security as well as regional and international stability.
Moreover, they also held a meeting with several Hamas leaders, including Mohamed Hassan, Khaled Meshaal, and Khalil al-Hayya, who affirmed their full support for the implementation of President Trump's peace plan and for overcoming all obstacles facing it.
In a related development, a delegation from the Hamas movement arrived today, June 30, 2026, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to resume negotiations regarding the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the Gaza Strip ceasefire plan.
The talks were characterized by positivity amid great optimism for completing the implementation of President Trump's peace plan.
