On Saturday, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Cairo,  in the first such visit after a decade of ruptured ties.

Shoukry and Cavusoglu discussed a range of bilateral and international issues in a step toward restoring normal relations, according to what the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, announced on Twitter.

Egypt's Shoukry held a closed-door bilateral meeting Saturday morning with Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu at the Foreign Ministry's headquarters in Tahrir Palace, in Cairo.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu arrived Saturday at Tahrir Palace in Cairo, to hold joint talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on regional and international issues of common interests.

Last month, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited Turkey in a show of solidarity after the massive earthquakes that killed more than 50,000 people in Turkey and Syria.
