Badr Abdel Atty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, received Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, on Wednesday.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Aty praised the significant progress in Egyptian-Tunisian bilateral relations since Tunisian President Kais Saied’s visit to Cairo in April 2021.
This progress has been further solidified by subsequent bilateral engagements, which have elevated relations between the two countries.
Abdel Atty emphasized the importance of maximizing the benefits of existing cooperation frameworks, maintaining the regular convening of joint bilateral committees, and exploring opportunities for collaboration in Africa.
He also commended Tunisia's supportive stance on Egypt’s water security and the cooperative exchange of nominations in various regional and international forums.
The two ministers also discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East.
They reviewed the latest developments in Syria, agreeing on fundamental principles to ensure security and stability in the country. These include respecting Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and initiating a comprehensive political process to restore peace and stability.
Additionally, the discussions extended to other regional issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Gaza, developments in Libya, and combating irregular migration.
The ministers stressed the importance of continued consultation and coordination between Egypt and Tunisia, as well as joint efforts to address shared regional challenges.
