Egyptian sources have outlined the main points of a proposal aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza for 60 days, AlQahera News reported on Monday.

According to the sources, the initiative calls for a temporary cessation of military operations, alongside the redeployment of Israeli forces to areas near the border. The move is intended to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid in volumes that meet the needs of the population in Gaza.

The proposal also includes an exchange of prisoners and captives. A number of Palestinian detainees would be released in return for half of the Israelis currently held in Gaza. In addition, the plan envisions the release of 10 Israeli hostages alive, as well as the transfer of 18 bodies — half the total of 36 Israelis reported dead.

The sources added that negotiations on a broader agreement or permanent ceasefire would begin on the first day of the truce.

Egypt has been playing a central role in mediation efforts, aiming to de-escalate the conflict and create conditions for a lasting settlement.
