The foreign ministers of Egypt and Qatar have underscored the importance of resuming diplomatic dialogue between the United States and Iran, as part of broader efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability across the Middle East.

This came during a phone call on Tuesday between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The discussion focused on bilateral relations as well as key regional developments of mutual concern.

The two ministers reviewed ways to build on the positive momentum in Egyptian-Qatari relations, affirming the strong fraternal ties between the two countries. They expressed their shared commitment to further advancing cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economic, investment, and expertise-exchange fields, in a manner that serves the interests of both peoples.

The call also included an exchange of views on the evolving regional situation and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions. Both sides emphasized the need to intensify regional and international efforts to contain escalation and prevent the expansion of instability, which could further threaten regional security.

In this context, the ministers stressed the importance of adhering to diplomatic and political solutions and creating favorable conditions for the resumption of dialogue between Washington and Tehran regarding the Iranian nuclear file. They noted that renewed negotiations could help achieve a comprehensive settlement that takes into account the interests of all parties and contributes to regional and international security and stability.

Egypt and Qatar reaffirmed their continued coordination and consultation on regional issues, highlighting diplomacy and dialogue as essential tools for addressing complex challenges and maintaining peace in the region.
