Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, held phone talks, on Tuesday, with Qatari Prime Minister (PM) and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
During the phone call, they discussed ways to bolster bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional issues of common interest on Tuesday, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that during the call, Abdelatty emphasized the depth of the brotherly relations between Egypt and Qatar and their continuous development across various levels, stressing a mutual commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation.
In this context, Abdelatty highlighted the "Alam El-Roum" development project as a distinguished model for the developmental partnership between the two nations.
He expressed his aspiration for further Qatari investments in Egypt to build on the recent positive momentum and enhance the shared interests of the two brotherly peoples.
The two ministers also addressed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the energy sector on January 4th, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening institutional cooperation in this vital field, supporting regional energy security, and maximizing the potential of both countries.
The spokesperson added that the ministers exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip.
The call touched upon ongoing efforts to push forward the implementation of the second phase of the U.S. President's plan regarding Gaza, specifically concerning Israeli withdrawals.
In this regard, Abdelatty stressed the importance of announcing the formation of a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the Strip's affairs, in parallel with the formation of an International Stability Force.
Furthermore, FM emphasized the necessity of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to create an environment conducive to early recovery.
He expressed Egypt’s total rejection of any practices that undermine the geographical unity of Palestinian territories or compromise the organic link between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, reiterating Egypt's categorical rejection of any form of partition, whether through imposing facts on the ground in the West Bank or attempts to divide Gaza.
