Egyptian Pound Drops Against Dollar in Major Banks

Foreign and Arab exchange rates witnessed a rise against the Egyptian pound at the end of trading on Wednesday in most banks operating in Egypt.

EGP vs USD

In the two largest Egyptian state banks in terms of the volume of assets and transactions, the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar exchange rate recorded an increase of 8 piastres to reach EGP 18.55 to buy, and EGP 18.61 to sell.

At the Arab African International Bank (AAIB), the price of the dollar rose to EGP 18.52 to buy, and EGP 18.62 to sell.

According to the Central Bank, the average market price in Egyptian pounds against the dollar is EGP 18.45 to buy, EGP 18.56 to sell.

Euro

On the level of major currencies, the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war still cast a shadow on the international financial and banking markets. The European currency continued to rise, as it rose today by 8 piastres for buying, and 10 piastres for selling, in government and private banks.

The European currency, the “euro” in the National Bank and Banque Misr, recorded an increase, to become EGP 19.74 to buy, and EGP 19.98 to sell.

At the AAIB, the euro recorded EGP 19.74 to buy, and EGP 19.99 for sale.

According to the Central Bank, the average market price in the Egyptian pound against the euro is EGP 19.76 to buy, EGP 19.89 to sell.

British pound

Today, the pound sterling exchange rate increased by 5 piasters for purchase and 10 piastres for sale, in government and private banks.

In the National Bank and Banque Misr, the price of sterling today increased to EGP 23.15 to buy, and EGP 23.37 pounds to sell.

In private banks, the pound sterling at the Arab African Bank increased, to EGP 23.15 to buy and EGP 23.38 pounds for sale.

According to the Central Bank, the average market price in Egyptian pounds against the British pound is EGP 23.06 to buy and EGP 23.31 to sell.

Saudi Riyal

On the level of Arab currencies, the exchange rates of the Saudi riyal in the National Bank and Banque Misr increased, to record today EGP 4.94 to buy and EGP 4.96 to sell.

Kuwaiti Dinar

The Kuwaiti dinar exchange rate witnessed an increase between 17-23 piastres buying and selling, to record today EGP 58.34 pounds for buying and EGP 60.85 to sell.

UAE Dirham 

The UAE dirham recorded a calmness today, to become EGP 5.04 to buy and EGP 5.06 pounds to sell.
