The Egyptian passport has been ranked 74th worldwide, according to the latest report from the Passport Index, reflecting a moderate but gradually improving level of global mobility for Egyptian citizens.

The index assigned the passport a mobility score of 61 points, with a global access rate of 31%. This means holders of the Egyptian passport can travel to roughly one-third of countries worldwide, either visa-free, with visa-on-arrival, or through simplified electronic procedures.

According to the report, Egyptian passport holders can enter 18 countries without a visa, while 39 countries offer visa-on-arrival access, and 4 destinations provide electronic travel authorization (eTA). In contrast, 137 countries still require a visa obtained prior to travel.

Strongest Access in Africa and Asia

Africa remains one of the most accessible regions for Egyptian travelers. Countries such as Kenya, Ghana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Uganda offer relatively flexible entry options, ranging from visa-free access to visa-on-arrival arrangements.

In Asia, destinations including Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, and Sri Lanka provide comparatively easy entry conditions for Egyptian passport holders, with simplified or no pre-visa requirements in several cases.

Select Opportunities in Europe and the Americas

In Europe, countries such as Albania, Armenia, and Montenegro offer entry options without prior visa requirements or through visa-on-arrival systems, making them notable destinations for Egyptian travelers.

In Latin America, countries including Ecuador, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Saint Vincent, Bolivia, and Suriname provide varying degrees of visa facilitation.

Meanwhile, several Pacific island nations such as Samoa, Tuvalu, Micronesia, and the Cook Islands also allow entry for Egyptian citizens without requiring advance visas.

Gradual Improvement in Passport Strength

The report highlights a steady improvement in the strength of the Egyptian passport in recent years, attributing this trend to expanding bilateral agreements across Africa and Asia, as well as strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with various countries.

Experts note that this progress enhances mobility for Egyptian citizens, supporting tourism, business expansion, and international investment opportunities. It also opens broader pathways for students and professionals seeking education or work abroad.

Despite improved access, the index emphasizes that travelers must ensure their passports are valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel. Some destinations also require proof of sufficient financial means, return tickets, or travel insurance.

The report advises checking updated entry requirements before travel, as visa policies may change due to political or security developments.

Overall, the Egyptian passport continues to show gradual upward movement in global rankings, reflecting ongoing efforts to expand international cooperation and improve citizens’ travel freedom.
