Egyptian Parliament Issues First Statement Post "Deal of Century"

Ahmed Fouad Abaza, deputy chairperson of the Arab Affairs Committee in the Egyptian Parliament, stated that United States President Donald Trump's most recent announcement concerning the deal of the century  could be described as a "New Balfour Declaration".

Abaza revealed in a press release that the committee will meet this week in order to discuss Trump's so called Deal of the Century, affirming that Egypt always maintains a strong stance against those who try to trespass Palestinian settlements.

He remarked "Trump who doesn't own or control any Arabian land, is trying to present a gift to Benjamin Netanyahu what is not his from the beginning".

Palestinian settlers from the occupied West Bank protested immediately after the announcement against U.S mediation in the cause.

A few months ago, the Palestinian Authority rejected any US mediation in peace negotiations, considering that decisions such as recognition of the legitimacy of settlements and Jerusalem as the capital of the Isreal are matters that undermine the peace process and are considered a complete bias towards the Israeli desires, contrary to international and UN resolutions related to the Palestinian issue.
