On Sunday, under the chairmanship of Counselor Dr. Hanafy Gebaly, President of the Parliament, the Egyptian House of Representatives will discuss a government-proposed bill concerning the asylum of foreigners.
The proposed law aims to establish a legal framework for the rights and obligations of refugees, aligning with international conventions that Egypt has joined, to ensure comprehensive support and care for those eligible.
The new bill proposes the establishment of the Permanent Committee for Refugee Affairs, designated as the competent authority for all refugee matters, including maintaining statistical data and information, to continue providing full support and assistance to refugees.
Additionally, the parliamentary session today will proceed with the discussion of the new criminal procedure law, initially addressed in principle.
The House of Representatives had previously allocated three parliamentary sessions to discuss the criminal procedure bill, which includes rights for the defense and accused, and regulates pre-trial detention periods, home search procedures, and the procedures for summoning and detaining suspects.
According to this week's parliamentary agenda, the House will continue discussing the criminal procedure law in principle to present all opinions, both supportive and opposing.
