Egyptian, Pakistani FMs Discuss Ways to Strengthen Ties, Regional Stability

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met on Wednesday with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister (PM) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, both ministers expressed their satisfaction with the tangible progress witnessed in bilateral relations between the two countries.

They reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying efforts to enhance cooperation across various fields, in line with the aspirations of their peoples and the historical ties and shared interests that unite Egypt and Pakistan.

The two sides also discussed regional developments and agreed on the importance of deepening coordination and cooperation both bilaterally and at the regional level, in order to address ongoing challenges and risks, contain crises, reduce escalation, and preserve stability.

The meeting further touched upon the latest developments regarding the crisis in Gaza. 

In this regard, Abdelatty emphasized the urgent need to reach an agreement on a ceasefire, ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and categorically reject any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians.

Moroever, he reiterated Egypt’s firm stance on the Palestinian people’s right to remain on their land and to establish their independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
