Egyptian Musician Gamal Salama Dies Due to COVID-19

Egyptian Musician Gamal Salama died Friday, at the age of 75, due to complications from the coronavirus.

Salama died in Al Haram Hospital as his health deteriorated in the past hours after contracting the deadly virus. His nephew Journalist Muhammad Al-Samahi stated that the Musician was transferred to a hospital in Maadi where doctors suspected that he had been infected with Coronavirus.

Egyptian stars, including Singer Hany Shaker, Actor Mohamed Sobhi and Belly Dancer Fifi Abdou paid heartfelt tribute to the great Musician, praying that he rests in peace.

Salama was born in Alexandria on October 5,1945. He studied composition in Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory where he was taught by the well-known Soviet composer Aram Khachaturian.

The musician collaborated with legendary singers in Egypt and the Arab world.

Among his most famous songs are "Saat Saat" by Sabah, "Ehky Ya shahrazad" , "Mosh Hatnazel Aanak" and "Aal gani Baad Yomen" by Samira Said.

Moreover, his name was associated with songs of the holy month, Ramadan, such as "Wallah Beoda Ya Ramadan"
