Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, commenced his official visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, by meeting with Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism and antiquities in the coming period.
The discussions were attended by Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, along with Mr. Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, Deputy Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities for Arts Affairs, as well as several senior officials from both ministries.
During the meeting, Minister Fathy emphasized the deep-rooted historical ties between Egypt and Iraq, highlighting their shared cultural heritage and longstanding cooperation.
He noted that both nations possess ancient civilizations that have significantly contributed to human history.
Following the discussions, Dr. Al-Badrani accompanied Minister Fathy on a tour of Baghdad, showcasing the city's ongoing cultural and urban development projects. Minister Fathy expressed his admiration for the progress and large-scale initiatives transforming the city.
It is noteworthy that Minister Fathy's visit to Baghdad comes in response to an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart to participate in the celebrations marking Baghdad’s selection as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025.
This visit underscores the commitment of both countries to strengthening tourism and cultural collaboration and supporting regional tourism development efforts.
