On Monday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias in Cairo, to discuss ways of activating bilateral and tripartite memoranda of understanding with Cyprus in the energy field, particularly in the areas of natural gas and electricity interconnection.
During their meeting the FMs stressed the importance of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum as a framework for multilateral cooperation in the field of energy, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said.
The two top diplomats discussed also ways to promote economic cooperation, increase the volume of trade exchange and activate various sectors of cooperation between their countries.
They further agreed to coordinate stances on various issues of mutual concern.
