Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel Aaty, held a phone conversation on Friday with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, as part of ongoing diplomatic coordination to exchange views on key regional developments of mutual concern.
According to the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the talks focused primarily on the situation in the Gaza Strip. Abdel Aaty welcomed France’s supportive stance toward the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and commended Paris’s long-standing recognition of the Palestinian state.
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed the importance of intensified international efforts to ensure the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, underlining the need to enable the international stabilization force to carry out its mandated responsibilities. Such steps, he noted, are essential to consolidating the ceasefire in Gaza in line with U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan and facilitating a transition to the second phase of the arrangement.
Abdel Aaty also emphasized the urgency of ensuring the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza, alongside creating conducive conditions for early recovery and reconstruction. He further highlighted the importance of moving forward with the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Gaza Strip during the transitional period.
The call reflects the close coordination between Cairo and Paris on regional crises, particularly efforts aimed at de-escalation, humanitarian access, and advancing a sustainable political path toward stability in the Middle East.
