The US Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, currently in Egypt, is set to meet with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, today, Wednesday. According to the official Middle East News Agency, the meeting will focus on the latest developments in Sudan and ongoing Arab and African efforts to resolve the crisis.
In a related context, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Chadian counterpart, Mahamat Idriss Déby, discussed several African issues of mutual interest, including developments in Sudan and Libya, during a meeting held on Tuesday in the New Alamein city.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, the two presidents expressed their support for all efforts to achieve stability in Libya and a ceasefire in Sudan.
The statement emphasized the importance of reaching a ceasefire to protect the interests of the Sudanese people amidst the ongoing conflict and the worsening humanitarian crisis that demands urgent intervention.
