Egyptian FM Receives Call from Cypriot Counterpart

On Wednesday, August 7th, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, received a phone call from Mr. Konstantinos Kombos, the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson and Director of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Migration, explained that the call was part of ongoing coordination and consultation between the two ministers to discuss regional issues of mutual interest, highlighting the historical and strategic nature of relations between the two countries.

The spokesperson noted that Minister Abdelatty emphasized to his Cypriot counterpart the serious and rapidly evolving developments in the region, stressing the importance of intensifying efforts to prevent an escalation of violence and instability. He also briefed him on his recent communications with foreign ministers from various regional countries, the United States, Russia, and several European nations, aimed at containing the current tension and escalation. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's rejection of Israeli assassination policies and the violation of regional sovereignty.

In response, the Cypriot minister praised Egypt's political and humanitarian efforts to resolve the ongoing crises in the Middle East and acknowledged Egypt's role as a cornerstone of security and stability in the region. He commended the intensive communications conducted by the Egyptian Foreign Minister and Egypt's diligent efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. At the end of the call, both ministers agreed to continue their consultation and coordination for the benefit of the region's peoples.
