Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia, Ragae Nasr, organized a grand ceremony, Saturday, in celebration of the country's National Day.

Malaysian Deputy Minister of Environment and Water, President of Sharia Court, and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the celebration in addition to a number of ambassadors, senior officials, as well as members of the Egyptian community.

On his part, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob pointed out that the National Day is held in remembrance of the struggle for independence that Malaysians enjoy today.

“We may be independent now but there are other challenges that can threaten the harmonious relationship that we have been enjoying all the while,” Yaakob said.

The ceremony highlights the solid relations between Egypt and Malaysia and comes in line with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry's visit to the Asian nation last March.

During his visit, Shoukry discussed several issues with Malaysian Minister of Defence Hishammuddin Hussein. The two ministers touched upon ways to push bilateral relations towards broader horizons.

They also exchanged views on the most important matters on the agenda of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) scheduled to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh.
