Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Egyptian Minister of Defense and Military Production, received Tuesday Minister Charalambos Petrides, Cypriot Minister of Defense and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of his official visit to Egypt to attend the inauguration of the 3rd of July naval base.
The meeting tackled the latest regional and global developments, as well as a number of issues of common interest, in light of the fields of military cooperation, transfer and exchange of experiences between the armed forces of Egypt and Cyprus.
Zaki lauded the strategic partnership relations between the Egyptian and Cypriot armed forces in various military fields. He also stressed the importance of coordinating efforts and military cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
On his part, the Cypriot Defense Minister praised the high level that the Egyptian armed forces showed during the maneuver (Qadir 2021), stressing his country's keenness to support prospects for military cooperation with Egypt during the next stage. Hence, Petrides expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces in all fields.
It’s noteworthy that a number of senior commanders of the armed forces attended the meeting.
