Egyptian Cotton Exports Reach $185.9 Mln in First 10 Months of 2025/26 Season

Egyptian cotton exports generated $185.9 million between September 2025, and July 2026, reflecting stronger overseas demand and higher export volumes during the first ten months of the current marketing season, according to market sources.

A total of 24 cotton trading companies participated in export operations during the period. Industry sources said Egypt exported 57,700 metric tons of cotton between September 2025, and July 2026, compared with 35,900 metric tons during the corresponding period of the previous season, highlighting a significant year-on-year increase in export volumes.

The rise was attributed to the availability of substantial carryover stocks from the previous harvest, combined with softer global cotton prices that enhanced the competitiveness of Egyptian cotton in international markets.

India, China, Vietnam, and Pakistan remained the principal destinations for Egyptian cotton exports during the season, underscoring sustained demand from Asia's textile manufacturing hubs.

Meanwhile, market sources said prices for Egypt's premium cotton varieties remained firm. Giza 95 was quoted at around 106 U.S. cents per lb in mid-June, while Giza 94 was priced at about 142 cents per lb, compared with 147 cents previously, as the premium "white gold" continued to enjoy resilient international demand despite broader market fluctuations.
